Boulder Bolero !


Cables define the raglan shaping of this cropped sweater. Short rows shape the rounded neckline, and five crocheted buttons give closure. Sized to finished bust measurements, this little sweater has a snug fit through the shoulders and arms, with the body slightly shaped to just below the bust. For a relaxed fit, size up.




FINISHED SIZE: 32 (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52)" bust circumference; 101/4 (103/4, 111/4, 111/2, 121/4, 13, 131/2, 14, 141/2, 143/4, 151/4)" long at center back. Garment shown measures 34" modeled with 2" negative ease.
YARN: Cascade Yarns Venezia Sport (70% merino, 30% mulberry silk ; 307 yd [281 m]/31/2 oz [100 g]; 3): #187 sage, 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6) hanks.
HOOK: Cardigan: Size 7 (4.5 mm); buttons - Size D/3 (3.25 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
NOTIONS: Yarn needle; five 1/2" bone rings to make buttons, or five 5/8" [15 mm] buttons.
GAUGE: 16 sts and 9 rows = 4" in dc on larger hook; cable panel = 11/2" wide.
Notes
Cardigan is worked in one piece from top down with raglan shaping. Cardigan is sized to finished bust measurements and is intended to be worn with zero ease or some negative ease. For a more relaxed fit, size up. Short-rows shape round  neckline. Sleeves are worked in joined, turned rnds from top down.

FINISHING
Buttons (Make 5):
With smaller hook, leaving a 6" tail, ch 4; si st in first ch to form ring. Remove lp from hook, insert hook through center of bone ring, place lp back on hook, draw lp through bone ring to front. Hold yarn in back of bone ring, ch 1 to secure yarn ring to bone ring. Work 16 sc tightly around yarn ring, bone ring and tail, inserting hook in center hole each time. Leaving an 8" tail, cut yarn and pull last lp on hook through. To join the rnd, thread ending tail on tapestry needle, sew from back to front under top lps of first sc, sew from top to bottom in two forward strands of last sc, tracing path of ending tail, ending with tail at back of button. Sew into back of button halfway around center of ring, hiding in stems of sc. Pull both tails up firmly, dosing center hole. Tie ends tog in a tight knot close to back of button. Use tails to attach button. Make 4 more buttons. Weave in ends. Block to measurements. Attach buttons to left front edge opposite button lps.
